Sensory Integration Assessments
My Training and Future Sensory Integration Assessments
I am currently studying Sensory Integration at Master’s level, training to become an Adavnced Sensory Integration Practitioner. This specialist training focuses on understanding how sensory processing impacts children’s development, behaviour and participation in everyday activities.
Once qualified, I will be offering sensory integration assessments for children, helping families gain a deeper understanding of their child’s sensory profile and how this may be influencing their experiences at home and in education.
These assessments will provide detailed insight into a child’s sensory needs alongside practical recommendations and strategies that can be implemented to better support regulation, wellbeing and development. My aim is to help parents and professionals better understand the child’s sensory world so that environments and expectations can be adapted in ways that allow them to thrive.
Understanding Sensory Integration
How Understanding a Sensory Profile Helps
Every child has a unique sensory profile. When we understand how a child processes sensory information, we are better able to support them in ways that truly meet their needs.
Understanding a child’s sensory profile can help to:
- Identify triggers for overwhelm or dysregulation
- Recognise when additional sensory input is needed
- Adapt environments to better support the child
- Reduce anxiety and behavioural distress
- Improve focus, regulation, and learning participation
- Help adults respond more effectively to needs
